Remembrance Tree Program

Tree Tagging

Wreaths Across America established the Veterans Remembrance Tree Program as another way to remember and honor our veterans. As Gold Star families visited the land in Columbia Falls, Maine, where the balsam tips are harvested each year to be made into the wreaths that are placed on veterans’ graves, they reported finding a sense of peace and tranquility from the land. The Remembrance Tree Program gives them a living memorial.

Any family can contact us and give information on their veteran loved one. We will arrange for families visiting us in Maine to visit the balsam tip land and select an evergreen tree where they can hang a custom dog tag with the details of their veteran. These trees are kept in production and their balsam tips are harvested every three years to produce the veterans' wreaths that are placed at locations across the country.

“We created the Veteran Remembrance Tree Program because we wanted to find a way to recognize veterans and their families in a more permanent way,” explains Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America. “This endless forest is a truly visual representation of our unwavering commitment to our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach and to recognize our veterans and families this year and for many years to come.”

Dedicate a living memorial for a veteran.
Click below to have a dog tag created and attached to a Veteran’s Remembrance Tree honoring a loved one on the Wreaths Across America tip land in Maine. These trees produce the balsam tips which are used in making the wreaths that are placed on veterans’ graves each December on Wreaths Across America Day. If you are unable to join us in person, we can place the tag for you and will email a photo of your tag.
Tags will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please keep your submission limited to 5 lines with 15 characters per line (including spaces and punctuation).

Mobile Education Unit

The goal of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE) is to bring local communities and our military together with education, stories, and interactive connections.
In 2021, the MEE held 158 events in 21 states.

The goal of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit is to bring local communities and our military together with education, stories, and interactive connections. Not only does it help teach the next generation about service and sacrifice, but to also share stories of patriotism and love of the country to communities around the United States.

The 48’ exhibit is equipped with a 24-person screening room that showcases the different aspects of the WAA mission through video. To the front of the exhibit, there are three interactive computers to showcase locations, trucking supporters, and general wreath sponsorship questions. Also, in the front is an education wall of information on the different areas of WAA and where the mission will be going in years to come.
The Mobile Education Exhibit is available (if its schedule permits) throughout the year to travel to school, fundraising, pop-up, and community events. If you're interested in bringing it to a location near you, please click below to make a request or visit the Wreaths Across America Official Facebook page to be considered for scheduling.

WAA has a partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration to Welcome Home Vietnam veterans. In 2020, the MEE team conducted welcome home pinning ceremonies for 1,055 Vietnam Veterans.
The MEE contributes to 10% of WAA's earned media, resulting in 2,000 earned media articles and 2.4 billion earned media impressions. The communications team utilizes a hyper-local approach to establish these types of impressions.
